From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
